Identify main task flow and redesign to resolve relevant pain points
Ideation:
I chose to redesign Buy Nothing, an app designed for users to give away, receive, and request free items. I had used the app to look for furniture for my college house, and while it has many useful features, I also encountered a lot of issues in the processes of filtering listings and coordinating to pick up items.
Target Audience:
I chose to focus on the local pickup aspect of the app, so my target audience was people looking to find free items within a short drive’s distance

Reflection
Challenges:
The biggest challenge I encountered was working with text on a much smaller screen than I have worked with before. I followed Apple’s Human Interface Guidelines to determine appropriate text sizes and weights.
User Interface:
I wanted the user to have ease of navigation, keeping the most important information easily accessible at all time. And also by using the same colors for items that had the same function or features. For example, indicating buttons by using the same shade of green.
User Experience:
Putting myself in the user’s shoes, I did my best to include features that would make the task flow as efficient and simple as possible. I wanted to meet the needs of the user instantly, without them having to navigate to different screens to find what they needed. I accomplished this by using clear calls to action and making it obvious to user what their options for next steps can be.
