Ideation:
Focusing on local residence as my target audience, I wanted to pull inspiration from San Francisco street art, using bright, high-contrast colors so my poster would have a fighting chance at standing out in an already colorful environment.
Target Audience:
Museum-goers who are interested in seeing new exhibits, residents of the San Francisco area who would have access to the museum

Challenges
Because the painting I chose to use was a square, I struggled with how to fill the background of both the poster and the ticket. When solid colors weren’t achieving the look I wanted, I pulled the image into Photoshop to expand the background with the generative fill tool.
Design Choices
For the poster, I chose to have text reading both horizontal and vertical, to create visual interest and compliment the vertical orientation of the image.
Not long after the submission for this assignment, my poster was selected for a juried student exhibition in my university’s art gallery.
